Important German cockroach preparations

For best results with German Cockroach treatments

To make sure we have the best results, it is important to clean out cupboards prior to my arrival. If I can't treat the surfaces of areas that are occupied by German Cockroachs the chance that they are eradicated properly goes down. Emptying and wiping down cupboards, draws and shelves in the kitchen will mean I can get to all the important areas. If possible pulling out dishwashers and fridges can also make treating for these critters more successful.

How to prepare and what to expect

Before the treatment

The more tidy, the easier to treat and the more thorough a treatment can be.

Pick up everything you can from the floor, especially toys, clothes and shoes, and store them or place them on a table. For rooms like kids play rooms putting everything in the middle of the room will be fine.

Vacuum and mop. Be sure to leave enough time for mopped areas to dry.  Note: I recommend not to mop for at least a week following the treatment  to get the best results.

Check outside the house and make sure that the perimeter is accessible and structures are clear of any items that may restrict where I can treat. Things can be moved out onto the lawn or in another location clear of the house and garage.

Clean footpaths of leaves or dirt to expose ant trails if that is one of the things you are having issues with.

On the day before I arrive

Pull movable furniture off the walls about 50cm to give access to treat  behind and under where furniture normally is. It also helps if it is  clean of dust or items. - Put away or cover any food, cutlery or  dishes. if possible have the dishwasher emptied as it may need to be  opened as part of the treatment.

Lift any pet food and water bowls up onto counters or tables off the floor.

Clear underneath roof manhole and any subfloor access. I will need enough room to set up my ladder if required.

When I arrive

I'll ask questions about any pest issues and if there are any specific things you want treated or left alone.  Take me on a little tour of the property and let me know where the issues are and I'll let you know if there are any problems I can see. I'll give any recommendations for how best to help keep the pests away.

You will need to vacate, taking any pets or children with you, and show me how to lock up when I'm done.

After the treatment

Most treatments take around 40 minutes and will require about 2 hours for the treatment to dry. This means you will need to wait about 2 and a half hours before re-entering.

Once you get back you can put everything back to where it normally is and wipe down surfaces that will be used for preparing food.

Make sure to put pet bowls back :)
